Mango Lassi...and singing the praises of Flaxseed Oil

A mango lassi is basically a smoothie made with primarily yogurt and mango. We added a little orange juice and agave nectar to kick up the tart and sweet flavors.

The flaxseed oil is optional if you want to add some healthy omega-3 essential fatty acids to your morning.  Don’t worry when you read the word “fatty”… omega-3’s increase your body’s metabolic rate, actually helping to burn excess fats in your body!  Flaxseed oil also lowers LDL (bad...boo!) cholesterol, boosts your immune system, helps your G-I tract, and gives you better skin.   The list goes on and on.  You don’t want to cook with flax oil (it takes on an "off" taste and also loses many of its properties), but take advantage of using it in smoothies, in salad dressings, or straight up.  The best source of omega-3's is actually fish oil, but you'll want to get those from eating fish or capsule supplements...I'm pretty sure fish oil wouldn't go over well in a mango smoothie.

You'll find flaxseed oil in the supplements section at Trader Joe's  (not with the oils).

Mango Lassi:

1 cup frozen Mango Chunks
1 cup plain or vanilla yogurt
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tsp Organic Agave Nectar
1 Tbsp Organic Flaxseed Oil (optional but recommended)

Add ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.

Maybe you could also substitute kefir for the yogurt? I got it from Trader Joes the other day.

That's a complete dose of health... works for me! Only there is a little problem, I don't have easy access to all these ingredients, are there any other replacements possible?
