TJ Product Review: Going to the dogs...
Auggie (on the right) celebrated his first birthday this weekend, and today I thought I'd review one of his favorite products at Trader Joe's: Buddy Biscuits, "Molasses Madness" Flavor. They're a dry dog treat, all natural, and they come in a roughly 1-inch by 2-inch size gingerbread man shape. My two dogs, Bailey and Auggie, give them two paws up, especially for any dogs that suffer from corn or protein food allergies. Do they like them? I think you can see it in their eyes...
The ingredient list reads: Whole wheat flour, rolled oats, blackstrap molasses, vegetable oil, mixed tocopherols (natural preservative). No corn, no artificial flavors or colors, and no artificial preservatives.
Now, Auggie doesn't have any allergies, but Bailey is allergic to a long list of things including nearly every kind of protein (he's on a rabbit diet) (meaning he eats rabbits, not what rabbits eat). As a result, there are not that many commercially-available treats that Bailey can enjoy... so the Buddy Biscuits are great for him as they contain few ingredients and none of the ones to which he's allergic. We switch these out with his other favorite treats (dried sweet potato "rawhide," raw carrots, and dried rabbit ears) (yep, you heard it right....rabbit ears...they're sold in pairs...)
A little more about my two guys, while I'm here. Auggie and Bailey are both Brittanys. Brittanys (formerly known as Brittany Spaniels) are medium-sized, very high energy hunting dogs. They are extremely sweet and loving. Bailey is 8 years old, and I'm pleased to say that people regularly still ask me "how is your puppy?" when they see him...his energy is apparently more noticeable than the gray around his eyes. We added Auggie to our family last year and the two of them hit it off. Happy Birthday Auggie!
