Yowza...Gyoza Salad!

Have you had the Trader Joe's Chicken Gyoza Potstickers?  They are delicious, inexpensive, and you'll find them in the frozen foods aisle (They also come in shrimp and vegetarian versions).  Early last year, there were practically riots in the store when the gyozas were temporarily discontinued/unavailable.  Every time I was in the checkout line or the frozen foods aisle, there was always talk of the gyozas.  What, no gyozas?!  How can they not have gyozas?!  We all breathed a happy sigh of relief as they reappeared in new packaging.
I love Trader Joe's potstickers and they are always welcome at our house - a good excuse for trying out new dipping sauces (soy sauce, sweet and sour, sweet chili sauce, etc).  Don't microwave these beauties; pan fry them till they are slightly browned and then add some water to steam them for a few minutes (directions are on the package).   But besides eating them plain, we use them in soups or combine with a stir fry.  By themselves, the one thing they're lacking is the crunch factor ... and a little color.  You can remedy that pretty easily by adding some fresh vegetables.  And suddenly you have a colorful, complete meal.

Gyoza Salad

1 bag frozen gyoza
1 1/2 cups sliced carrots
1 1/2 cups sugar snap peas
1/4 cup Sesame Soy Ginger Vinaigrette (or a little more if you prefer a heavier sauce)

1. Cook gyoza according to package directions.  If you choose to pan-fry, toss the vegetables in with the water and you can steam with the gyoza.  Otherwise, steam or pan-fry vegetables separately until tender-crisp.

2. Pour dressing over gyoza and vegetables.  Stir until coated.

Nice way to use up veggies! My husband won't eat a lot of veggies if served on their own, but he's a big fan of the potstickers, so I'm going to try this and see if I can get him to enjoy eating his veggies a little more. Can't wait to try them myself!

Great idea. You could really do anything. How about broccoli, edamame, bell peppers, or even the stir fry bagged vegetables. That would be really easy!
