Year of the Ox Contest and Asian Gourmet Giveaway

annie chun prize As we wind down the New Year's celebrations, we're gearing up to celebrate Chinese New Year 2009, Year of the Ox.  This year, we're doing it with a contest and a fabulous prize of Asian Gourmet Goodies sponsored by Annie Chun's Gourmet Foods

As a Trader Joe's shopper, you're probably familiar with Annie Chun's Teriyaki, Udon, and Miso Bowls, but you might not know just how many products they carry in their line.  The huge selection they've generously provided includes about 27 fabulous sauces, noodles, ready-to-go meals, and a Year of the Ox t-shirt.  We'll even throw in one of our cookbooks.  It's not a gift basket...it's more like a gift wagon.  Your pantry will be stocked and happy!

THE CONTEST:  Simply email us your favorite Asian-inspired recipe or serving suggestion using Trader Joe's products.  Send entries to contest@cookingwithtraderjoes.com

THE DEADLINE:  Get cooking!  Entries must be received by January 22.

THE PRIZE: A mother lode of 27 Annie Chun's products, t-shirt, one signed "Cooking with All Things Trader Joe's" cookbook, and seeing your recipe printed in our next newsletter.

Looking for more inspiration?  Did you know that on Chinese New Year, sweet dumplings are eaten after midnight?  One dumpling contains a hidden coin, and the person that bites into the coin receives good fortune all year (some of it going towards dental work I'm guessing).  I really love reading about food symbolism, and Chinese New Year is full of foods signifying happiness, prosperity, and good luck!

The Fine Print
1) Recipes must be your original creation.  Recipes become the property of Cooking with Trader Joe's.
2) Ingredients for recipes must be available at Trader Joe's stores.
3) All recipes must be received by midnight PST January 22, 2009.
4) Winner must reside in the United States and provide physical mailing address for shipment.
5) Recipes and suggestions will be judged on taste, originality, ease of preparation and appearance.
